Why do some rebel groups target civilians while other groups refrain? What entices rebel groups to establish governance institutions while others focus on their military actions? My research interests, which are located at the intersection of political conflict studies and political economy, I examine questions about the causes and effects of rebel groups’ violent and non-violent behavior.
